It was a luncheon at the Ocala Hilton to honor three very special women in our community for their outstanding efforts in the fight against cancer. Lois Johnson conferred the title of Royal Lady upon Dr. Erin Dunbar, a UF/Shands Brain Surgeon and a 2010 and 2011 Royal Dames research grant recipient, Dr. M. Catherine Lee, Breast Surgeon at Moffitt Cancer Center, and Judy Flickinger, R.N. a volunteer at Ocala/Marion County Hospice.
The decorations as well as the invitations and Program Book were in a black and white theme with vases holding the "Thousand Stars" baby's breath.
Munroe Regional Medical Center sponsored the event for the second year, so that approximately $10,000 will go directly to research. www.munroeregional.com
Seen at the event were Suzanne Smith, Chris Hildner, Carol Emmett, Patti Hunt, Patricia Jordan, Barbara Fitos, Mary Ellen Poe, Nancy Porter, President; Dianna Moore, Cecilia Truefdale, Audrey Kuzma, Paul Clark and Lt. Col. Edward Johnson.
The Ocala Royal Dames has grown to over 200 members and donated $2 million to cancer research and education over the past 25 years.
