STUDENT ART WORKSHOPS SET FOR EARLY RELEASE DAYS

The Discovery Center is providing an opportunity for students ages 8-14 to follow artistic pursuits during upcoming early release days and have fun while doing it..

Ocala artist and instructor Vicki Carol will provide a fun learning experience during the “Make It & Take It” art workshops on Feb. 8, March 7 and May 2. The sessions are from 2-4:30 p.m.

In each workshop, students will learn a new creative process and complete their own work of art to take home.

Activities planned for the workshops are:

Feb. 8 - Create a paper painting from common materials available in any home.

March 7 - Make mono-prints. Learn the simple process of creating a one of a kind art print.

May 2 - Create your own winner for the Kentucky Derby. Learn the process of building a 3-D horse sculpture from wire and fabric.

Cost per workshop is $13.50 for members and $15 for non-members. Limited to 15 pre-registered participants. Participants can sign up for one workshop or all three.
