Ocala Golf Club
Fondly known by locals as “Muni”, Ocala Golf Club has a rich history dating back nearly 80 years. The course was originally named Highlands Hotel Golf Course and opened for play in 1931. In 1944, the City of Ocala purchased the course to keep it from closing and has operated it ever since.
Many a player walks down the fairways daily recalling their favorite Muni memories. Countless players grew up spending summers on the course and now return with their children to share the experience together. Others migrated to the course as snowbirds, fell in love and never left.
Many changes have been made to the course over the years, most recently in 2009 when the course was redesigned by architect Mike Beebe. The renovation brought back the historical layout of the course matched with modern playability. Full of history and memories, good shots and bad, Ocala Golf Club is a classic redesign, but still an Ocala tradition.
